While we were in the midst of developing our current plan and structure for the presbytery, I was serving on General Council. I agreed to participate with a group completing an evaluation of Tim Rogers Martin's work about a year and a half into the 3 year contract. I suggested to the group Assigned to work on this that we needed to evaluate our own work (particularly the Council) as well as that of TRM. I think we did a good piece of work that got approved and shelved by the General Council. The report we produced actually had some action steps for the Council. I just came across the report while purging my office of unneeded paper. I think we might have a look at the report. As John discovered, we cannot attach documents here on the blog, so I am going to send it out as an e-mail to everyone.
It may be of value, maybe not.

Thanks, Cathy for 'sharing' this summary. Both its approach and the history it brings to light are valuable to our work as the Presbytery's ET.
The piece that intrigues me the most is how to use the P/UP gestalt as a vehicle for both enhanced participation and increased self-awareness (self assessment, or evaluation).
John,
What are the initials P/UP for?
P/UP stands for "Peace, Unity, and Purity". That's the title given to the report that took several years to produce and suggested a way out of the gridlock over the ordination of avowed, self-affirming homosexual persons. Barabara Wheeler and the former of pastor of the Hamburg Church were members of this taskforce and came to the presbytery meeting at Lafayette Church last year to describe the process, outline the report, and answer questions. I think this report is likely the most important document the Presbyterian Church has produced in my life-time. Here's a link to the full-text.

I think using the PUP report is a great idea. I just had not given it much thought and forgot the letters. Thanks for reminding us of the report.
